Box of Crackers

Box of Crackers

An extra ridge of cake has been added around the top edge of this rectangular shaped cake to make the box effect and your cake sides / top need to be very flat when almonding. The side panels are cut separately in deep green and embossed with a quilt effect. The top of the cake and recess are covered in white to make the innards of the box. The crackers can be made in covered extra pieces of cake, moulded rice crispies or sausages of sugarpaste. Indent each end and use strips of white paste cut in a zig zag pattern to finish the handle. The tiny holly leaves and small balls of red paste should be made and left to dry and then added at the end. A straight frill or any boarder design is used to make a wide band for each edge, dusted in gold lustre dust. This should overlap the crackers a little and neaten out the edge to meet the green side panels.
