Fabric Effect Bow
Although shown here as a plaque on a board, this idea is lovely on a cake. Thin strips of green and red paste (1/2 flower paste and ½ sugarpaste) are rolled out and then over rolled using a textured rolling pin. This one has been completed with a silk effect roller. Fold the edges behind so that the cut edge is hidden, which gives a nicer fabric edge. The bow can be cut free hand or using a very large bow cutter. Folding the pieces under and round as you would with ribbon or fabric. Place small pieces of sponge inside the loops of the bow and under parts of the tail whilst they are drying to ensure a nice shape is retained. Use a modelling tool to ensure the folds and joins at the centre of the bow are neat.
