Marbled Christmas Pudding
The cake has been covered in a marbled effect sugarpaste made by colouring small pieces of sugarpaste in dark and medium gold / creams and then very lightly kneading both into a larger piece of white sugarpaste until just barely mixed. Remember the colour will mix more during rolling out. A raised disc of brown sugarpaste is added and then a texture tool used to make a pitted surface. Use dark brown dusting powder mixed with a little alcohol / painting solution to add the effect of sultanas. A thin piece of cream sugarpaste is cut in a drip effect for the cream and some small cut out holly leaves added. The writing as been hand painted in gold lustre dust mixed with a little alcohol / painting solution.
The boarder at the bottom of the cake is edged with gold dust , embossed with a very fine strip cutter and then music notes painted on – this one being the first few notes of ‘we wish you a Merry Christmas’!
